Fantasizing About the Connection Between Childhood and Aging
Stories of Nostalgia, Family, and the Beauty of Growing Older
Have you ever dreamed of yourself getting older? When you do, are you surrounded by grandchildren and exuding youth? Welcome to TCH, a place where we talk about old yet classic games, keeping our childlike wonder, and share stories about the elderly people we’ve come across in our lives.

We are two millennial sisters reminiscing about our childhood and the elderly people who filled it. We have fond memories and sad ones, too. This site is a platform for all the dreams we have of children and seniors – the nostalgia that comes from aging and remembering our youth.
We see a connection between kids today and older people. We also have a romanticized view of these relationships being positive, peaceful, and happy. Our blog won’t hide the truth that there are negative sides to getting older, and how kids play a role in elderly care. All the same, we won’t lie about our daydreams and positive experiences with seniors, either. Our blog covers the best of both worlds and somewhere in-between.
A Matriarch’s Beauty.
Because so many of us have had a grandmother or mother who served as the epitome of self-care. Why is it that today we have so much trouble dedicating time to ourselves? How is it that the matriarch’s of our lives seemed to always be put together even while raising children and working? This is a story of how we sisters once played pretend to be like the older women in our lives but soon got blinded and lost with current trends of social media.

The Old Woman We Met for 15 Minutes.
Probably one of our favorite stories, it shares an experience we had with a friend’s great aunt who lived near us. While we can’t recall a single word she said, we can remember her spirit. Here we talk about how, at the time, we didn’t seem to notice the impact that old woman left on us. It wasn’t until we got much older had we realized just how special she was.

Kick the Can.
We don’t just cover what the game is, but we explain how this Twilight Zone episode stuck in our minds forever. Not only that, but this show became the sole reason we were driven to start this blog. Along with this, you’ll find that we often mention shows or movies we’ve watched that relate to the nostalgia of a senior’s youth and how we fantasize ourselves getting older.

Our goal is to simply share our stories and to write something that you can relate to. We know that caregiving can be troubling, but there are beautiful moments, too. Have a look around. Cry if you must. Laugh and take a break to reminisce. But don’t forget to ask yourself:
When you dream of yourself getting older, what is your life like? What are you saying? Doing? Are you singing? Are you baking with your grandchildren? Or are you traveling the world and living in retirement to the fullest?
This is your fantasy.
